Optical Metal Coatings(click on thumbnail to enlarge) Metal films can be applied that fully reflect the entire spectrum and are designed to maximize reflectivity at specific regions of the spectrum. Transparent dielectric layers can be added for improved durability and selective reflection.
A typical metal coating is "enhanced" aluminum. A coat of aluminum is deposited on an optical surface (glass or polished aluminum) and an overcoat of "glass" is deposited to protect the aluminum from oxidation and physical degradation. ACG offers an especially low cost solution when the substrate/reflector is aluminum. ACG runs a continuous throughput process (compared to a "batch" process) utilizing sputtering technology to deposit the metal and the overcoat of "glass". Reflectivity levels exceed 95%. ACG can source the reflectors or mirrors in glass, plastic and aluminum. ACG also oversees the polishing of the aluminum to insure optical surfaces. Features
- Low Cost (large volume throughput coaters coupled with low overhead operations)
- Glass, metal or plastic reflectors
- Volume Production ( fourteen 96" diameter vacuum PVD chambers and an inline sputtering system)
- Short Lead Times
- Uniform distribution across large deep dish substrates
